Swords and Sandals 2

Swords and Sandals is back in (demo version) a new and improved format. More weapons, skills and upgrades make this a much improved game.

Unlike the first version, you're more likely to survive to fight again. Duels are fought to first blood (Hint: buy a ranged weapon!), but tournaments are to the death. So make sure you upgrade your character the best way you know how before you attempt the tournaments.

Also, it may be cheaper to sleep on the street, but you're also much more likely to be robbed, plus your energy levels start out low.

Hints: I upgraded my agility more in order to use a ranged weapon. When fighting to first blood, you're going to need it. Also, entertain the crowd near the end of the fight, not at the beginning. The crowd tends to get bored quickly.

All in all, I enjoyed this second version a lot more than the first. You're much more likely to survive to fight another day, although if you run out of money, you may just wish you had died instead.

Armor Heroes 2

Take your paladin, jester and drow on a multi-level side scrolling adventure. Use each character to his best ability, otherwise you won't last long.

For a side scrolling fighter, this game brings some nice complexity to an old genre. Each hero you control has their own weaknesses and strengths (paladin is good against the undead, but the drow is best against riders, and the jester is best against armored enemies).

In between levels, you can advance your characters based on how much money you collect on each level. So pick up the extra cash as you go along. You're going to need it to keep going.

Tips and other helpful hints: The paladins special attack is actually a healing spell for himself. Also, being on a horse or dinosaur isn't always helpful. I actually preferred being on foot most of the time.

Morbus

Orbus is an RPG game from gamegarage (I have the link from freeonlinegames). Choose your character and play through the adventure. A side-scrolling adenture that will keep you entertained for a little while at least.

It's an interesting set of characters. Choose from a fighter, alchemist, traitor and jester. Each has his own attacks, strengths and weaknesses. But each is amusing in their own way.

Use a and s to hit your enemies (left and right arm). d is your action key (talk, pick up, go up ladders). Use the arrow keys to move around, and the down arrow to use your special attack (I kept trying to duck and ended up wasting all my manna). f opens up your inventory, while g lets you look at your stats.

Panic

Panic is space invaders with a twist. Shoot down the targets without letting them hit you. The faster they are moving and the higher they are when you hit them, the more points you get.

This is a casual, quick game to play. There's not much to it. Use the mouse to control your fighter. Move under the moving targets and fire when they are near to the top of the screen to score well. In each level, more targets will appear. Don't expect to get beyone level 13 or 14 if you're lucky.

The graphics are simple, the music is retro. All in all, not a bad game to waste a few minutes with, but you probably won't play more than a few times.

Chaos Faction

Chaos Faction is a fighter with 15 levels (3 you need to unlock) with multiple weapons that drop out of the sky. Hit your opponent with everything but make sure to duck (puts up a shield) when he brings out the big guns.

Lots of variety in weaponry, from magic to a board with a nail in it to an RPG to mines give this game a lot of excitement. If all else fails, just hit him with your fist. Different backgrounds and opponents give each level a different feel. Just don't drop off the edge.

One small complaint... If you have the same character as your opponent, it's just about impossible to tell them apart.

Final Slam

Final Slam pits you up against up to 96 other fighters in a flash fighter game. Create your own fighter and take on other players, or work your way through the ranks to become the champion.

Use aswd to move your character around. Punch with g and kick with h (difficult to do on a split keyboard, let me tell you). Taunt your opponent with the space bar, and get some health back. Your fighter will automatically block high hits, but to block low you need to duck. Special attacks are possible with down, left, punch or down, left, kick (or down, right,...).

Really, quite an in depth fighter game. The graphics aren't half bad and the sound effects are good. Challenging others seems pretty straightforward.

Drakojan Skies Acolytes

Drakojan Skies Acolytes is a side scrolling fighter game with incredible graphics and a fun story line. If you've played any side scrolling fighter games, then you know you want more from the next one and this one seems to provide.

You were sent out to destroy the drakojan, but have rebeled against your own military. Now, you have joined up with the drakojan to fight back against their oppressors. Fly through each of the missions to learn a little bit more about why you were sent out to hurt these 'innocent beings.'

Use the arrow keys to fly around. Hold down the v to fire your main weapon. Hold down the x button for your secondary weapon (lob a grenade forward and down). Upgrade your weaponry, shields, and specialty weaponry (c) to do some real damage. Upgrades are flown in or you can find them in crates.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Iron and Flame

Fullmetal Alchemsit: Iron and Flame from Adult Swim lets you take control of Ed and Al from Fullmetal Alchemist, a cartoon on Adult Swim. Fans of the show will enjoy playing their favorite characters and the cut scenes, while others (like me) who have never heard of the show before can just enjoy the game.

Take Ed and Al through 7 levels and fighting multiple enemies (street fighter type). Use your special powers (transmutations), otherwise you will be overwhelmed very quickly. One hint: go back to the earlier levels if you die. You can build up experience and thus level up (but only to level 20). You can also build up your energy levels in order to cast the special attacks.

Whenever you level up, you gain access to more special attacks, so check them out (hit the m key), select your favorites and get back to the fight. It's also a good way to pause the game.

Use the big guy for when you want to just slug it out, but the little guy has the better special attacks. Switch back and forth (x) between them to get the most out of both.

Also, take some time to experiment with the different alchemy for each attack. You can up the amount of damage you can do with each attack. For Ed's stalactite (throws spikes or something) attack, I found the best combination was fire, earth, sulfur and zinc, but not copper.

I saw this game reviewed at jayisgames and had to try it out. I'm glad I did.

American Dad vs. Family Guy

American Dad vs. Family Guy lets you take control of your favorite characters from American Dad or Family Guy (I prefer Stewie). But you can play as Stan, Klaus, Roger, Hayley, or on the other side there's Peter, Lois, Stewie and Chris. Each with their own special moves. A street fighter game with cartoon attitude added in, this game can be fun for fans. Some fun quotes and finishing moves make this game fun to play.

Now for the bad part, I found it hard to do the special moves, and I can't understand why. When all you have to do is hit left, left, a, it shouldn't be hard to do.

Murloc

Murloc is a flash RPG that's just about as good as it gets for free online games. You play the role of Murloc from the World of Warcraft. While the beginning is a basic build up your character by beating up small fry, the opponents quickly get bigger and badder, so spend some time building up Murloc.

You have two talents to build up, fury and magic. Take your pick, but make sure to look at what you can advance to. Do you want the magical ability to renew (heal) yourself? Or is that big attack what you want to aim for. Or maybe you just prefer to act like a magician, rather than a fighter.

Some cute jokes (find the one ring down by the water) but for the most part, this is a linear game. But really quite good for an online flash RPG.

Ninja Ninja

Ninja Ninja is a fun fighter flash game. Move left, right and use the up arrow to jump. Pressing the space bar will activate your weapon. As you beat the other ninjas, they will drop power ups. These power ups speed you up or give you better weaponry.

The choices are in japanese. To switch over to english, push the down arrow three times and hit the space bar. Then push the down arrow three times and push the space bar. This will give you the english options.
