Jeu Chiant

Jeu Chiant (also called double jeu) is a balancing act. Keep the larger ball on the larger paddle below, while keeping the smaller ball up in the air (similar to breakout) using the smaller paddle. The object is to keep going for as long as you can.

It's very easy to send the larger ball flying off the end racing to get the smaller ball. This game, despite its simplistic nature, requires some foresight and planning to last longer than just a few seconds.

I haven't decided if it's addicting, yet. What do you think?

Tanked Up

Tanked up is the newest game from miniclip created by nitrome. Race around the track in tanks. Either shoot your way to victory, or let the track blow up your opponents. But either way, you still need to be the first to cross the finish line.

It takes time to master aiming, shooting and driving at the same time. Do yourself a favor and concentrate on the driving. The best strategy is to get in front, then stay there. Once you fall too far behind, you probably won't be able to catch up.

Don't get caught up in any pile-ups. The AI in the other tanks aim for you first. Also, don't get caught up in a one-on-one firefight. It's a losing proposition, even if you do blow up the other tank (and it takes a long time to blow up a tank), the other racers will have finished by the time you're done.

The first few levels are easy to beat, but once the track starts taking aim at you, it becomes harder to finish.

RC Time Trial

RC Time Trial pits you agains the clock as you race around the garden in your back yard. Build up your RC to your specs and then get out there and race.

I'm not sure how if how you build your car makes a difference except in its looks, so choose what you like. The controls (arrow keys) are almost too responsive. I found myself overcompensating on turns again and again in an effort to stay on the track. In order to score, you have to finish the laps in under 3 minutes, so race faster!

This is a time trial, so I kept looking for shortcuts. I haven't found any that work. Sometimes the jumps aren't worth it (except for fun). It may be easier to just race around them instead.

Extrajetzt

Extrajetzt is basically Mario Kart online. Drive around the course launching your special weapons when appropriate to beat the others around the course. It may take a few rides around the kiddie course to get it down, but the old reflexes will come back to you.

You can play as a blueberry, cherry, etc... The witches hat is a nice power up since it drives you around the course for a short time automatically, but the mushroom is a killer.

The directions are in dutch (I think), but the controls are simple. Use the arrow keys to drive and the space bar to activate your special weapon.

Tube Racer

Race down the tube in Tube Racer. Shoot the tube on your board as obstruction after obstruction pops up in your way. Roll, duck and jump over each one, otherwise you'll end up flat on your face.

Tips: Staying ducked is a good strategy for a short time. You can still move left and right, but you can't jump. Also, don't worry if it takes a few tries to get used to the controls. I kept wanting to use the space bar to jump. Use only the arrow keys to move around.

Warning, as with most simple game, this one can be addicting.

Gameboy Emulator Online

The latest gameboy emulator on line. The nice part is their is no registration and no downloads. All the ROMS are there and ready to use.

I had to use the secondary view to make the games work, however. The input rate really needs some tweaking.

Grow Nano v0

Grow Nano is another game from eyezmaze. This one is different from his most successful series, 'Grow'. And to be truthful, I'm not all that crazy about this one. I like his Grow series more than I like his 'make it grow' games.

Scroll down so that the bottom of the playing field is in complete view before starting. Then follow the hotspots around the screen and click on them. Notice that you have a timer at the bottom that keeps going down. So click faster if you want to get to the ending. You'll know you're there when the crowd cheers in the background, but that's all the reward you are going to get.

Four Second Fury

Four second fury is a hard game to describe because its many games in one. Each game lasts only four seconds and you may need to avoid objects, hit objects, shake a can, move from one side to the other, shoot something, etc...

Each game is (of course) very simple since you need to finish each one in four seconds. Here's a warning, however. The music is set a little too loud. You may want to turn down your speakers before going to play.

The controls are simple using the arrow keys and the space bar. The hard part is figuring out in four seconds which arrow keys to use or when to hit the space bar. Each time you 'lose' a game for whatever reason, you lose a life. The objective is to keep on playing.

I like that every time you play the games come in different orders, so each time you play is a little bit different. You can still get a lot farther the second time, however, as the games will repeat (did that make sense?)

Rapid Response

Rapid Response is a National Guard promotional from shockwave. Drive your humvee around town defusing the bombs before they blow.

It's a nice 3-D racing adventure game, although I'd like to know how driving over a location defuses a bomb ;-) Use the arrow keys to control (and I use the term loosely) your hummer as you barrel around town. Avoid running into too many walls and other obstructions as you travel, or you will slow down or damage your car too much to continue.

There are some power-ups that are worth short detours for if you can find them.

ATV Madness

ATV Madness is a nice racing game for ATV's. Take a ride on a nice graphical package, and try to beat your computer controlled opponent to the finish line. But that shouldn't be all you try to do. Perform some aerial tricks for the crowd and get bonus points for each successful trick.

For each level you beat, you can pick a new driver, get a new course, and you can try a new trick. The graphics are nice, although the engine noises started to sound like a bee buzzing around my ears, they're pretty good too.

I've heard of branding a game to your site, but it got a little bit ridiculous with this game. Everywhere you looked was the 'rcade' button. But overall, it doesn't really detract from the gameplay.

Bike Mania 2

Bike Mania 2 is similar to games such as BMX Backflips . You have a limited amount of time to get through the obstacle course by riding your bike over the objects. Just don't tip over and land on your head, or else it's game over. Takes a little bit of strategy not to overcompensate, but you'll get the idea after the first bump in the road.

Use the arrow keys to control the rider, up to move forward, down to move back, left to lean back, and right to lean forward. Hint: If you just try to race over the obstacles without leaning one way or the other, you'll bounce head over heals.

Overall, I'd rate this game higher than BMX Backflips. It has better backgrounds, and better controls. The sound effects aren't bad, but aren't great either. And it's challenging to play.

Pizza hot

Pizza hot puts you in the seat of a scooter delivering pizza across the city. Your job is to get the pizza delivered on time and still hot. As the levels advance, you will need to deliver soda as well, plus make multiple deliveries. Pick up the loose change along the way, but make sure you take care of your scooter as repairs can be expensive. Also, be careful of the law. They don't like it if they catch you running across the sidewalk.

I found the scooter hard to handle, but I soon got used to it. Also, make sure to turn off the tutorial messages, as it quickly started driving me nuts in between the levels. The music is repetitive and annoying, so feel free to turn that off as well. The graphics are good and the game is entertaining.

The quicker you get the pizza delivered, the better your tip. But don't worry too much about it. I found the money found on the street made me more.

3D Hyperjet Racing

3D Hyperjet Racing is worth trying out just for the background images. You race high above a futuristic city in a hyperjet. In order to win the race, you have to pick up the hyper boosts. Do that and you're home free.

Pick your favorite car, each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Controls are simple with left, right, accelerate (up arrow) and brakes (down arrow... as if you were going to brake!).

Speed Demon

Speed Demon places you in charge of a little demon racing across hell to the finish line. Your pet demon will follow your summoning pentagram wherever it goes, so keep you pointer on the track. I found this game almost impossible on my laptop.

This is a new twist on the old pointer avoidance with some cool music and psychedelic background.

BMX Backflips 2

Flip, race, and ride through each level on your BMX bike in BMX Backflips 2. Like the first game, if you end up on your back, it's game over. Each level has it's own challenge, but I recommend you work your way through them all. Each level just gets harder.

Take your time (unless it's a time challenge) and pedal hard (up arrow to pedal forward, back arrow to pedal backwards) onto each ramp or hill. Pick up more speed by using the left arrow to lean back. Make sure you stick your landing though, or you could end up breaking your neck!
